The Katawba Valley Land Trust is composed of over 250 members who are interested in supporting the work of the group. It is an entirely volunteer organization. The Board of Directors consists of seven individuals who provide additional time to meet and make decisions concerning the activities of the Land Trust and its future direction.
During the year, a number of activities take place which involve the membership.
- The Annual Meeting is an event at which the membership hears news of the accomplishments of the previous year, has an opportunity to hear a speaker, and elects Board members and undertakes other business.
- Outings are held periodically, allowing members a chance to visit properties which have been protected or visit state parks or other natural areas.
- The Land Trust sponsors the Lily Fest a festival at Landsford Canal State Park which celebrates the peak of the blooming season for the Rocky Shoals Spider Lily.
- Members also have opportunities to do volunteer work, which includes property stewardship, clean-up days, tree planting, and other outdoor activities.
For information on the opportunities which exist, visit the news page or call (803) 285-9455.
