- The first conservation easement was acquired. This project was a 6.5-acre island on the Lancaster County side of the river across from the Catawba Indian Reservation.
- The land trust began the first of a number of acquisitions along the flood plain of Gills Creek in Lancaster with the donation of a one-half acre parcel.
Activities of Katawba Valley Land Trust have resulted in the preservation by acquisition or easement of a total of approximately 2,268 acres of land in four South Carolina counties.
